Miramar wants to invest in local entrepreneurs with grants up to $5,000.
Commissioner Yvette Colbourne is leading the city’s new grant program for businesses with 10 or fewer employees.
The application opens June 22 and closes July 13, and only businesses that operate within the city of Miramar are eligible.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our community,” Colbourne said in a news release.
“This grant program is about investing directly in our local entrepreneurs, helping them build capacity, create opportunities, and continue contributing to the economic strength and vibrancy of Miramar.”
Two types of businesses can apply:
Business must have been in operation for at least one year, cannot be part of a chain or franchise, must possess a City of Miramar Business Tax Receipt and be up to date on property taxes.
When using the grant, businesses can purchase equipment, professional services, supplies and inventory, tech and other miscellaneous business expenses.
To ensure proper use of funds, the city requires a pre-application meeting and a business plan from each applicant.
