The company’s new infrastructure can handle payments initiated by merchants’ own AI agents or by those operating through conversational platforms, Getnet said in a Tuesday (June 9) press release.
Getnet’s solution is built on open standards; is designed to be interoperable, secure and protocol-agnostic; and enables AI agents to connect to Getnet’s global payments infrastructure, according to the release.
It is initially available to businesses that already operate their own AI agents, and it will later be expanded to enable smaller businesses to access agentic commerce experiences without having to develop their own AI infrastructure, per the release.
“Our goal is to provide the infrastructure that enables merchants, platforms and AI agents to operate securely, interoperably and at scale, making it easier to adopt new AI-powered shopping experiences,” Getnet CEO Juan Franco said in the release.
Getnet has enabled compatibility with Mastercard Agent Pay and expects to soon complete an integration with Visa Intelligent Commerce, according to the release.

“As AI agents take on a more active role in commerce, trust becomes the foundation of every transaction,” Mastercard Chief Digital Officer Pablo Fourez said in the release. “Mastercard Agent Pay is designed to ensure that agent-initiated payments are secure, authenticated and with verified intent, enabling partners like Getnet to innovate with confidence.”
Mastercard and Santander said in March that they completed Europe’s first live end-to-end payment using an AI agent and that the transaction marked the first agentic payment conducted within a regulated banking framework.
The transaction was carried out in a “controlled environment” using Mastercard Agent Pay and represented “a significant milestone in the application of AI systems capable of initiating and completing transactions on behalf of customers.”
During the same month, Visa and Santander announced that they launched an agentic commerce partnership in Latin America and that they had completed a series of pilot agentic commerce transactions powered by Visa Intelligent Commerce.
The companies said the pilot marked a “breakthrough in how consumers can securely delegate shopping tasks to trusted AI agents.”
