
India Prime TV | Bengaluru | July 2, 2026 7 Bihar Workers Killed, A massive rockslide at a stone quarry near Tavarekere on the Bengaluru South–Ramanagara border claimed the lives of seven workers on Wednesday morning, while rescue teams continue searching for several labourers feared trapped beneath huge boulders.
The tragedy occurred at the Kaveri Crusher quarry near Madapatna village when a large section of rock suddenly collapsed during mining operations. Heavy machinery and rescue personnel were rushed to the site as authorities launched an extensive search operation.
Preliminary reports indicate that all the deceased were migrant workers from Bihar. Officials are verifying the identities of the victims before releasing the official list. Several others sustained injuries and were shifted to nearby hospitals.
The incident has sparked allegations of illegal mining and negligence. Local representatives have demanded strict action against those responsible, while police and the Mines Department have initiated an investigation into the quarry’s safety measures, permissions, and possible use of illegal blasting techniques.
An FIR is expected against the quarry management if violations of mining and safety regulations are confirmed. Rescue operations are continuing with excavators and heavy equipment as officials fear additional workers may still be trapped under the debris.
The tragic accident has once again raised serious concerns over quarry safety standards and enforcement of mining regulations in Karnataka.
