A tragic road accident near Balesar in Jodhpur district claimed the lives of three cousins from the same family early Saturday morning. The accident occurred on National Highway 125 near the Bharatmala Expressway, when a speeding pickup truck allegedly rammed into a stationary Bolero SUV from behind.

The deceased have been identified as Rajunath Kalbelia, Dayalnath Kalbelia, and Prakashnath Kalbelia, all residents of Chokha, Jodhpur.

How the Accident Happened

According to preliminary police information, the Bolero was parked on the roadside along the Jodhpur–Jaisalmer Highway (NH-125) when a pickup vehicle, reportedly travelling at high speed, lost control and crashed into it from the rear.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the Bolero was extensively damaged, leaving its occupants with fatal injuries.

Three Cousins Lose Their Lives

The accident claimed the lives of three cousins belonging to the same family. The victims were identified as:

  • Rajunath Kalbelia
  • Dayalnath Kalbelia
  • Prakashnath Kalbelia

All three were residents of Chokha village in Jodhpur. The incident has left the family and local community in deep shock.

Police and Emergency Response

Soon after receiving information about the accident, Balesar SHO Mool Singh Bhati and his police team rushed to the scene. Emergency services shifted the victims and managed rescue operations.

Two bodies were taken to the Balesar Community Health Centre (CHC) mortuary, while the third body was sent to the Mathuradas Mathur (MDM) Hospital mortuary in Jodhpur for further legal formalities.

Investigation Underway

Police have seized both the damaged Bolero and the pickup vehicle. Family members of the deceased have been informed, and legal proceedings have been initiated.

Investigators are examining the exact cause of the crash, with particular focus on whether overspeeding and negligent driving by the pickup driver contributed to the fatal collision.

Road Safety Concerns

The incident has once again highlighted the dangers of overspeeding on Rajasthan’s national highways. Authorities continue to urge motorists to follow traffic regulations, maintain safe speeds, and exercise extra caution near stationary vehicles.
