08.35 IST India Prime National Desk New Delhi  Landslide in Ghatkopar, Mumbai Leaves Two Dead and Several Trapped

A tragic landslide triggered by continuous torrential rainfall occurred early Wednesday morning, August 12, 2026, in the Ashok Nagar area on the Ghatkopar-Kurla border in Mumbai. The landslide struck the Gaushiya and Garib Nawaz chawls between 3:00 AM and 3:48 AM, crushing six to seven shanties while residents were asleep.
Emergency teams, including the Mumbai Fire Brigade, local police, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), rushed to the site to launch a massive search-and-rescue operation . While two bodies have been recovered and sent to Rajawadi Hospital, authorities fear that six to eight more people remain trapped under the debris .

TTP Launches Coordinated Terror Attacks Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan

The banned militant outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has unleashed a wave of violence by executing multiple coordinated attacks across various sensitive border districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province . The militants used advanced weaponry and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to target police checkpoints, military convoys, and security installations in regions like Swat, Tank, Hangu, and South Waziristan.
A devastating suicide bombing outside a police station in Swat’s Kabal town—which struck during a local peace rally—claimed the lives of over 14 people. In response, Pakistani security forces intensified their counter-terrorism operations, neutralizing at least 10 militants during fierce retaliatory clashes

Massive Drug Bust: 30 kg Heroin Seized via Drone in Ferozpur, Punjab

In a major pre-Independence Day crackdown, Punjab’s Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and border security agencies seized over 30 kilograms of high-grade heroin smuggled from Pakistan via a drone in the Ferozpur sector. The confiscated drug haul carries an estimated international market value of around ₹150 crore. Authorities arrested three smugglers at the scene, and preliminary investigations have revealed that this cross-border drug network was being coordinated by a notorious gangster currently operating from inside a prison.

4. Direct Tax Collections Jump 23% in FY27 Driven by Robust Contributions

Reflecting strong macroeconomic momentum and corporate resilience, India’s net direct tax collections surged by 23.09% year-on-year to hit ₹8.11 lakh crore in the current fiscal year 2026–27 (FY27). Data released by the Income Tax Department shows that this substantial growth was driven by robust contributions from both corporate tax and personal income tax, alongside a significant jump in Securities Transaction Tax (STT) collections. Analysts attribute this steep rise to expanding economic activity, stricter anti-evasion measures, and improved taxpayer compliance.

5. Deadly Houthi Missile Attack Near Bab el-Mandeb Strait Kills 6

An Iranian-backed Houthi rebel attack on a commercial cargo ship named Tihamah near the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait has resulted in the tragic deaths of four crew members and two rescuers. The initial anti-ship ballistic missile strike hit the vessel, immediately killing the four crewmen, who included three Pakistani nationals and one Indonesian. When local Yemeni Coast Guard units rushed to the scene to conduct a search-and-rescue operation, the Houthis launched a secondary “double-tap” strike, killing two rescuers and forcing the remaining crew to completely lose control of the heavily damaged ship.

 

Mumbai Fire Broke at apartment 2 died 4wounded

A tragic fire broke out late at night on August 11, 2026, on the 11th floor of the Shanta Bhavan building in Vile Parle West, Mumbai. The Level-2 blaze quickly engulfed two flats spanning over 4,000 square feet, leading to dense smoke throughout the top floor corridor.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and rescued several trapped residents, but unfortunately, a two-and-a-half-year-old toddler and a 23-year-old woman lost their lives. Four other residents sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at Nanavati Hospital, while two firefighters were treated for minor injuries.

Preliminary reports suggest that a malfunction in the electrical wiring or the air conditioning unit might have triggered the fire, which was brought under control after a three-hour operation.
