The situation became more controversial after police reportedly reached the resort following information that a candidate had allegedly been taken there against his or her wishes.

However, the councillors present at the resort told police that they had come there voluntarily and that they had not been kidnapped.

Baran: BJP Candidate Reportedly Out of Contact With Family

A separate case was reported from Baran, where BJP candidate from Ward 16, Antima Yadav, her husband Advocate Sanjay Yadav and their child were reportedly out of contact.

Following a complaint from the family, police registered a case against unidentified persons and began an investigation.
