After 48 years, an iconic Bardstown Road business has shut its doors.
Electric Ladyland, 2325 Bardstown Road, known for its vast record selection and smoke shop vibes, posted on Facebook on June 8 that it has closed.
The well-recognized Highlands-Douglass business said in the closure announcement that the small business had become a “place of connection, creativity, self-expression, and community” over its nearly five decade long run.
“To every customer who shopped with us, every friend who supported us, every employee who helped shape our journey, and every member of this community who believed in us, thank you. Your loyalty, kindness, and encouragement have meant more than words can express,” the post continued.

In late 2024, the record and smoke shop with its vibrant paint job decorating the outside of the building, was listed for sale briefly but after a few months, the owners said the business would not be closing but would rather be renovated.
The June 8 social media post did not cite a reason for why Electric Ladyland has closed its doors.
“We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of Louisville’s story and for allowing Electric Ladyland to be a part of yours,” the post stated. “From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for 48 unforgettable years of support, love, and community. We will cherish these memories always.”
