WESTERLY, R.I. (WJAR) — An incident at a precious metals business in Westerly forced authorities to shut down a portion of Airport Road on Wednesday morning.
The fire chief said a spark got into the filter of a crucible and caused a lot of smoke.
No injuries were reported.
A hazardous-materials team was assessing the situation.
Police said Airport Road was open again as of 9:35 a.m., but the access road to the station and the airport was still closed.
