The Indian Army recently released a new video of ‘Operation Sindoor’, showcasing how it thwarted Pakistan’s attacks and launched retaliatory strikes that destroyed several Pakistani airbases. This video was shared by the Army’s Western Command on social media platform X on May 18, 2025.

Initial Strike: Operation Sindoor began on May 7, 2025, when the Indian Army responded to a terrorist attack in Pahalgam by targeting nine terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Counterattack: After Pakistan violated the ceasefire, the Indian Army destroyed all Pakistani posts involved in the firing on the night of May 9.

Role of Air Defence System: India’s air defence systems, especially the S-400 missile system, intercepted and neutralized missiles and drones fired by Pakistan, preventing any damage within Indian territory.

Attack on Pakistani Airbases: The Indian Air Force used BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to strike key Pakistani airbases such as Noor Khan (Rawalpindi), Bholari, Shahbaz, Mushaf, Rahim Yar Khan, and Sukkur. These strikes caused severe damage to runways, hangars, and air traffic control towers.

Failure of Pakistani Air Defence: Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the Chinese-supplied air defence systems of Pakistan failed during the strikes, highlighting India’s strategic superiority.

Key Achievement: The Indian Army shot down a Pakistani Mirage fighter jet, with the wreckage and video evidence presented as proof.

Operation Sindoor was a precise and calculated military mission launched by the Indian Army on May 7, 2025, aimed at responding decisively to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and Pakistan’s ceasefire violations. The Indian Army targeted nine major terrorist camps located in PoK and inside Pakistani territory. On the night of May 9, the Indian Army dismantled all Pakistani posts involved in cross-border firing.

India’s advanced air defence systems, particularly the S-400, played a vital role by destroying incoming missiles and drones mid-air. The Indian Air Force dealt a heavy blow by using BrahMos cruise missiles to disable key Pakistani airbases, damaging runways, control towers, and hangars. A Pakistani Mirage jet was also shot down during the operation.

Significantly, Pakistan’s air defence system—procured from China—remained ineffective. The Indian Army released a video of the operation to showcase its military preparedness and retaliatory capabilities to the world. The video depicts the planning, training, and execution of Operation Sindoor, highlighting the Army’s strength and commitment under the tagline “Justice Served.”
