The US Department of Agriculture is alerting organizations interested in supporting rural business development have until June 15 or June 30 to apply for two different grants through the Rural Business Development Grant program.
According to a news release from the USDA, the Rural Business Development Grant program provides competitive funding for projects that help develop or expand small and emerging businesses in rural communities. Eligible businesses must have fewer than 50 employees and annual gross revenues of less than $1 million.
The USDA is alerting the public two application deadlines are approaching. Applications for the Strategic Economic Community Development Grant are due by 4:30 p.m. MDT on June 15. Applications for the regular Rural Business Development Grant program are due by 4:30 p.m. MDT on June 30.
Eligible applicants include nonprofit corporations, state government agencies, towns, communities, institutions of higher learning, federally recognized tribes and certain rural cooperatives organized as private nonprofit corporations. Individuals and for-profit businesses are not eligible to apply directly.
Grant funding may support projects such as business development planning, feasibility studies, distance learning networks, adult education and workforce training programs.
Applicants must be registered through the System for Award Management, commonly known as SAM.gov, before submitting an application. Registration is free but may take time to complete.
In the release, the USDA encouraged interested organizations to begin the registration process and discuss potential projects as soon as possible due to the short application window.
Additional information and grant applications are available from Loan Specialist Lynelle Barber at (307) 233-6721.
