
India Prime Bureau | flagship outreach conference Jaipur In a significant step towards strengthening Rajasthan’s global engagement and promoting safe overseas migration, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, IAS, on Wednesday reviewed preparations for the ‘Videsh Sampark – State Outreach Conference’, scheduled to be held on July 16 at the Rajasthan International Centre (RIC), Jaipur.
During a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat, the Chief Secretary directed all departments to work in close coordination to ensure the successful organisation of the conference. He reviewed the event blueprint, session planning, speakers, departmental responsibilities, guest management, logistics, security arrangements, media coordination and other operational preparations.
The conference is being jointly organised by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, and the Government of Rajasthan. It will be co-chaired by Smt. Sripriya Ranganathan, Secretary (Consular, Passport, Visa & Overseas Indian Affairs), Ministry of External Affairs, and Chief Secretary V. Srinivas. The Rajasthan Foundation and the Department of National and International Migrant Rajasthanis are the nodal agencies for the event.
Focus on Safe and Legal Migration
One of the conference’s primary objectives is to create awareness about safe and legal migration while educating people about the risks associated with fraudulent recruitment agents and illegal migration channels.
Participants will also receive information on the Ministry of External Affairs’ services related to passports, visas, consular assistance and welfare schemes for Overseas Indians. Discussions will focus on protecting the interests and welfare of Indian citizens and workers employed abroad.
Investment, Skills and Diaspora Engagement
Beyond migration issues, the conference will deliberate on Rajasthan Government initiatives for the global Rajasthani diaspora, investment opportunities, industrial development, skill development, tourism promotion and stronger engagement with Non-Resident Rajasthanis (NRRs). The event aims to strengthen collaboration between the state government, the Ministry of External Affairs, industry stakeholders and the overseas Rajasthani community.
Rajasthan to Host the Conference for the First Time
The Videsh Sampark initiative was launched by the Ministry of External Affairs in 2017 as part of its outreach programme with state governments. While similar conferences have already been organised in states including Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Haryana, Punjab, Tripura, Bihar, Uttarakhand and Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan will host the conference for the first time.
Senior Officials Participate
The review meeting was attended by Principal Secretaries and senior officials from multiple departments, senior police officers, the Regional Passport Officer, the Protector of Emigrants, and representatives from the departments of Industries, Tourism, Skill Development, Forest, Finance, Higher and Technical Education, General Administration, Art and Culture, Information and Public Relations, Employment and Entrepreneurship, Labour, Women and Child Development, Home, Child Rights, the Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority, Jaipur Divisional Commissioner and Jaipur District Collector. District Collectors of Jodhpur, Jalore, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Nagaur, Barmer, Pali and Churu also joined the meeting through video conferencing.
