India Prime Tv State Desk A serious industrial accident has taken place at Maa Shiva Steel and Alloys LLP in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district, where molten hot metal reportedly spilled from an induction furnace following a technical malfunction. Several workers suffered severe burn injuries in the incident.
Raigarh Steel Plant Accident
The accident occurred in the Punjipathra Industrial Area of Raigarh. While early social media reports claimed that as many as eight workers were injured, administrative and official information indicated that five workers were directly injured, with two critically injured workers later dying during treatment.

The furnace was operating at extremely high temperatures, with molten metal reportedly exceeding 1,500 degrees Celsius. The hot molten material suddenly surged out of the furnace and struck workers working nearby.
The incident created panic across the plant, as employees rushed to help the injured workers and move them to safety.
Five Workers Suffered Severe Burn Injuries
Immediately after the accident, fellow workers began rescue efforts and transported the injured employees to OP Jindal Fortis Hospital in Raigarh.
The five injured workers were identified as:

Furnace No. 3 Sealed Following Safety Inspection
Following the accident, teams from Punjipathra Police Station, the Industrial Health and Safety Department and local administration reached the plant to investigate the incident.
Officials inspected the facility and reportedly identified serious concerns related to workplace safety measures and the availability of safety equipment.
As an immediate action, authorities sealed Furnace No. 3, where the accident occurred.
Factory Owner Served Show-Cause Notice
Authorities have also reportedly issued a show-cause notice under the Factories Act to the owner of Maa Shiva Steel and Alloys LLP, Rajat Gara (Gera), over alleged violations of safety regulations.
The investigation is expected to examine the technical condition of the induction furnace, safety procedures followed at the plant, protective equipment provided to workers and whether required industrial safety standards were being properly implemented.
Investigation Underway After Raigarh Industrial Accident
The Raigarh incident has once again highlighted concerns over worker safety in industrial areas, particularly in steel plants where employees work around extremely high temperatures and molten metal.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the furnace malfunction and whether negligence or safety violations contributed to the accident.
Further action is expected based on the findings of the investigation.
