India Prime Tv National Desk Mumbai: A horrific road accident in Mumbai’s Malad West has left a 34-year-old woman dead and six others seriously injured. The incident took place on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at around 8 PM, near Mamlatdarwadi Junction on S.V. Road.

The CCTV footage of the accident has now surfaced, showing a speeding car crashing into vehicles that were waiting at a traffic signal.

How Did the Malad West Accident Happen?

According to the details available, Priyanka Satra, 34, a law graduate and mother of two, was travelling on a motorcycle with her husband Mayank Satra after shopping for vegetables.

The couple was reportedly waiting at the traffic signal when a speeding car came from behind and crashed into their motorcycle.

The impact threw the couple off the bike. The car then went on to hit three auto-rickshaws waiting ahead.

Several people on the road reportedly narrowly escaped being hit during the crash.

Driver Claims He Pressed the Accelerator Instead of the Brake

Police arrested the 70-year-old driver, identified as real estate developer Krishna Chamanakar, following the accident.

During questioning, the accused reportedly told police that while approaching S.V. Road from the subway, he mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the vehicle to go out of control.

34-Year-Old Woman Dies, Husband Seriously Injured

Priyanka Satra was rushed to a nearby hospital following the crash, where doctors declared her dead.

Her husband Mayank Satra suffered serious fractures to his spine and other parts of the body and is undergoing treatment.

Three auto-rickshaw drivers and a 48-year-old woman passenger were also injured in the accident. Some of the victims suffered serious head injuries.

Accused Gets Bail

Police reportedly found no alcohol in the accused driver’s blood during the medical examination.

The accused was produced before the court and was subsequently granted bail on a ₹15,000 cash bond.

Allegations of VIP Treatment at Police Station

Following the accident, the victim’s family and local residents raised allegations of VIP treatment being provided to the accused at Malad Police Station.

They alleged that instead of being kept in the lock-up, the accused was allegedly provided facilities including an air-conditioned room, a comfortable chair and access to a smartphone.

Senior police officials have reportedly said that the allegations are being examined and that CCTV footage from the police station is being reviewed.

CCTV Raises Questions Over Road Safety

The CCTV footage has brought renewed attention to the dangers of speeding on Mumbai roads.

The incident has also raised questions about driver responsibility, road safety and the handling of serious road accidents, while the allegations of preferential treatment remain subject to police inquiry.

The investigation will determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash and whether further action is warranted.
