A sensational armed robbery in Rajasthan’s Alwar city has raised serious concerns over urban security. Three masked and armed robbers allegedly entered the residence of GST Assistant Commissioner Om Prakash in the prestigious Apna Ghar Shalimar Residential Society, held the family hostage at gunpoint, and escaped with gold jewellery, cash, and other valuables worth lakhs of rupees.

Robbers Hid on the Rooftop Before Entering the House

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred between 6:00 AM and 6:15 AM on Saturday. Investigators believe the three accused had been hiding on the rooftop before the family opened the main entrance.

As soon as the door was opened, the armed men forced their way inside. They allegedly threatened the homeowner with a firearm and locked him inside a bathroom. His wife and children were then held at gunpoint inside another room.

Family Held Hostage for Nearly 90 Minutes

The victims told police that the robbers kept the entire family hostage for nearly one and a half hours. During the ordeal, the accused allegedly assaulted family members and forced the woman of the house to hand over the jewellery she was wearing.

The robbers then broke open cupboards and lockers, making away with around 20 tolas of gold jewellery, silver ornaments, cash, and other valuables before fleeing the scene.

Police Launch Investigation, CCTV Footage Under Examination

Following the incident, officers from the Sadar Police Station, senior police officials, and a forensic science team reached the spot to collect evidence. Statements of the victims have been recorded.

Police are examining CCTV footage from the residential society, nearby roads, and surrounding areas to identify the suspects and trace their escape route.

No Arrests So Far

At the time of publication, no arrests had been officially confirmed. Police teams are conducting searches at multiple locations and investigating all possible angles to identify and apprehend the accused.
