India Prime TV | Barmer/National Desk  150 Pakistani brides in India . Around 150 Pakistani women from Sindh have reached India for their long-pending marriages with Indian partners, bringing relief to families whose wedding plans were delayed following the deterioration in India-Pakistan relations after Operation Sindoor.

 150 Pakistani brides in India

According to reports, the women had been engaged to Indian men and were waiting for an opportunity to travel to India. After the restrictions on the Wagah-Attari land route and visa-related difficulties, their families had faced prolonged uncertainty.

The Indian government subsequently granted visas to the brides and their relatives on humanitarian grounds. Since the Wagah-Attari land route was unavailable for this travel, the families reportedly used air routes through third countries, including transit points such as Muscat, Dubai and Sri Lanka, before travelling onward to India.

How Operation Sindoor Affected Cross-Border Weddings

The situation changed significantly after the April 22, 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 people were killed.

India subsequently launched Operation Sindoor on May 7–8, 2025, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, according to the Government of India’s official account.

Following the Pahalgam attack, India announced several measures concerning Pakistan, including the closure of the Integrated Check Post at Attari and restrictions concerning Pakistani nationals travelling under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme.

Shadani Darbar’s Role in Helping the Families

The issue was taken up by members of the Sindhi community, including the Shadani Darbar network, which reportedly helped compile information about Pakistani women whose marriages with Indian men had been delayed.

The information was subsequently presented to the Union government, with a request for humanitarian consideration for the families.

Recent reports say the government approved visas for the brides and their relatives, allowing them to travel to India by air through third countries.

Brides Took Alternative Air Routes to Reach India

With the Wagah-Attari land route unavailable for this purpose, the families had to take longer routes.

According to recent reports, Pakistani brides and their relatives travelled through transit locations including Muscat, Dubai and Sri Lanka, before continuing to Indian destinations.

Reports say the women have reached several Indian cities, including Nagpur, Jodhpur, Ahmedabad, Raipur, Pune and Bhopal.

Long Wait Finally Ends for Many Families

For many couples, the journey represents the end of a prolonged wait.

One reported case involved a Pakistani bride who eventually travelled through Muscat to Nagpur after her wedding plans were delayed by the border restrictions.

The story has also highlighted the impact that diplomatic restrictions can have on ordinary families with cross-border relationships.

Around 300 More Brides Reportedly Waiting

While around 150 Pakistani brides have reportedly reached India, reports indicate that around 300 more women in Pakistan may still be waiting for similar arrangements to allow them to travel to India for their marriages.

The issue therefore remains relevant for Sindhi families on both sides of the India-Pakistan border.
